I really want to buy this laptop from Amazon but I have no idea if the color of laptop is just pink color or the brilliant pink that sony website has.

I just got this and the first thing I noticed was the bright pink cotton candy color. It’s ok but not fantastic. Kind of looks like cheap Barbie doll plastic pink. It’s glossy but will probably be prone to scratching. The pearly sheen of my older one helped hide little scratches. Also, the pink on the inside does not match (at all) the outside pink. Totally different color palette. Kind of irritating actually. The inside pink is more peachy light pink than true pink.
I had the VGN series up til last week. It was a beautiful pearly pink color, had a slider bar for volume and backlight – loved it! Unfortunately, that one was a lemon and had too many problems to fix. They sent me this one as a replacement. I wish I had my other back, problems and all. The more I look at it the more irritated I become. What color blind person designed this? Why they took that slider bar feature away I have no idea. Stupid actually. That was a great feature that I used everyday. My older one also had a taller screen. This one feels shorter and stretched out. It’s lightweight which is nice but I am missing my other one.
Windows 7 is Windows 7 – it’s fine. It works. It’s updated. Nothing more to say about that.
Whatever, I am stuck with this I guess. My recommendation? Don’t bother with this one. Spend the extra money and get the 2010 version.

Has anyone noticed any heat problems with this laptop ? Was watching a DVD on the laptop, and fell asleep for a while. When I woke up and picked up the laptop on the left side where the cooling vent is, it was way too hot to hold. I like this laptop, but will probably send it back. Think it could be hot enough to cause a burn.

After doing some research and reading reviews on Amazon and elsewhere, I purchased this nice looking laptop. Screen (not so nice or bright) flickers randomly. Auto-software update does not work and the Sony manual updates don’t work or install properly. Battery life is poor (my experience, and as reported by leading consumer magazine this month). On-line technical support is pretty worthless with lots of buyers reporting the same frustrations and issues. After spending quite a bit of time trying to fix the glitches, I gave up and sent the thing back (waste of my time). Thank you Amazon for making returns to easy. The easy return process is the only positive part of my experience with this VAIO. This is my first Sony laptop (have been a Dell fan for a long time) and maybe my last. I’m totally happy with my Sony blu-ray player and TV… perhaps Sony should stick with manufacturing video equipment.

Easy to use and very light for a 13 inch screen. Highly recommend it. Joel Schram
